Comparison
Sutempo next to the tools you already know.
These tools are not all in the same business, and price is not the only criterion. The question that matters is whether you want a tool that belongs to you, or a marketplace that brings you clients in exchange for a share of the revenue.
Vendors change their plans. What follows describes their business model, not this month's price list: check the price with the vendor before deciding.
The table
| Tool | Model | Commission on bookings | Who holds the money |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sutempo | Subscription, free plan for a solo practitioner | None | Your own Stripe account |
| Setmore | Subscription, limited free plan | None | The payment provider you connect |
| Calendly | Subscription, limited free plan | None | The payment provider you connect |
| Planity | Subscription, with a marketplace | Per contract, on clients the marketplace brings | The vendor |
| Fresha | Free software, revenue from payments and the marketplace | On clients the marketplace brings | The vendor |
| Treatwell | Subscription plus a marketplace | On bookings coming from the marketplace | The vendor |
What the others do better
Planity, Fresha and Treatwell are also marketplaces. They bring you clients you would not otherwise have had, and that is a real service: if your problem is filling an empty calendar in a town where nobody knows you, a marketplace answers that problem and Sutempo does not.
Calendly is unbeatable for booking a one-to-one meeting inside a professional calendar, with fine-grained availability rules and deep integration into corporate calendars. Setmore is a long-established generalist with a wide set of peripheral integrations.
Sutempo does not send SMS yet, has no app in the app stores, handles neither point of sale nor stock, and brings you no clients. If any of those is decisive for you, another tool will serve you better.
What Sutempo does better
Your clients are yours, and so is your money. Payments land in your Stripe account, never in ours; client records export; and no commission is taken on any booking, including from a client you brought in yourself.
The price does not move when the team grows. Établissement and Membership are billed per venue, not per person, which keeps the cost predictable for a salon of three and for a salon of ten.
And everything the back office does is reachable through a public API and an MCP server, which is true of none of the other five at this level of coverage.
Frequently asked questions
Does Sutempo bring me clients?
No, and that is deliberate. Sutempo is a tool, not a marketplace. In exchange, none of your clients costs a commission and none of them is taken from you.
Can I use Sutempo alongside a marketplace?
Yes. Nothing stops you keeping a marketplace presence for discovery and sending your regulars to your Sutempo page, where they cost nothing.
How do I bring data over from another tool?
Services, clients and hours can be entered in the back office or pushed through the public API. Exporting from the tool you are leaving depends on that tool, not on us.
Can your prices go up?
A price change is announced 30 days ahead and never applies to a month already paid for.
